Ehehehehe..... The actual image is huuuuuggggeeeee!! *__*

...So this was a request from my stepmother who has sat patiently and listened to my verbal telling of GreyRune since I was in middle school. She's watched these two characters change countless times, and she's part of the reason they are the way they are now. She originally wanted a remake of an image in my scraps where Saelier is leaning on Kai's head, but in the current version of GreyRune, Kai CAN NOT BE TOUCHED... AT ALL! So that made my life difficult.

So I tried to express a more metaphorical side to their relationship as reluctant comrades wary of each other, but undeniably good friends (though they'd never admit it). Kai has her Pendulum to Saeliers throat, but the wire's not touching him (as it would be if she were aiming to kill), and his katana has the blade facing away from her neck, ready to strike, but at rest.

Unfortunately, this picture is a little off since Saelier is actially left-handed, but we'll ignore that and call him partially ambidextrious like Train from Black Cat. =3

On Kai's side, the grass is gold (suggesting fall), and the cherry blossom tree is in full bloom (suggesting spring). The inconsistancy was intentional, since she's not 'complete'. Saelier's side is completely summer. They meet on the path that they have to travel together, neither wanting to walk in front of the other for fear of getting stabbed in the back.

....Deep huh? I'm capable of deep.... sometimes... -_-;;

Anyway! This is a watercolor on a 10x14in sheet of 135KG manuscript paper. Inking was done with a maru pen and deleter waterproof ink. Approximate time taken is about five hours from start to finish.

....I wish my work looked more dynamic. I need to work on that. =/ *sigh*
