Ya know, this picture started out as a piece I was gonna call "Fall", where a girl was falling out of the sky and the face of the one she was falling for was kinda superimposed in the sky...
...Somehow, the whole 'falling' thing turned into a forshortening experiment, and before I knew it Kai had worked her way into my lovey-dovey picture with some kick-ass acrobatics. So I went with it, and this is what happened. I'm actually pretty happy with the forshortening on Kai's arms and legs. Torque is always cool too.
I just really wish I had that innate talent that a lot of artists have for portraying wind through hair and cloth. I can't seem to get it right, and trust me, I've tried.
In the upper-left is Saelier, upper-right is Hallow, bottom-left is Maylee, and bottom-right is Takiba. These are pretty much the final designs. I can't seem to improve on them anymore than this. I think that's a good thing.
And I used a round nib for this piece, though I normally only use round nibs for backgrounds. I really liked how the lineart was really accentuated as opposed to how my lines look when done in a G-pen nib. Problem is, I'm not really compatible with round nibs and zooming in in Photoshop really shows how jagged the lines are and all. Oh well. Practice makes perfect, huh?
Time: ?? Coloring was about three hours. Photoshop CS3, Intuous 3, Mechanical pencil, round-nib, Deleter3 ink, printing paper.
This is gorgeous! I enjoy the softer images in the background and the clarity of the images you've created. I find that your style is rather generic, though, when it comes to people trying to make anime and manga images. My suggestion would be to mess with the eyes a little bit more to try and give them less of a stylistic look, but that's just me trying to give you a critique....Yeah...doesn't work around 10AM. Proportions are great, costume design is awesome, and I do love the effects. *thumbs up* Sugoi!!!
Thank you~~~
I've gone through a lot of styles in the past, but this is the only style that comes easily to me. I like simplicity, and I totally agree about losing the stylistic look, and I have tried... I just somehow always fall back to this. ; If you look carefully, you'll notice that my eye style changes every now and again... eheheheheheeee!
Yeah. I checked out some of your older sketches and I think you DO go through change, but you go through it very slowly. That might be the best kind of change, if only because it'll let you tweek everything and then figure out "okay, this is what I want the most, so it's staying...but this can go." I think your bodies are ROCKIN', but it's just minor tweeks here and there. ^^ Awesome coloring, though..You make me green eye envy. *is green*
Noooo grreeeeeennn! *shakes fist*
One of the biggest pitfalls I've ever fallen in is envy. I was envious of Mayshing and Shilin and all of those amazing artists, and drawing then just becomes so frustrating, that I lose the want to do it. If you're not having fun when you're drawing, you're not doing it right. I think that's what really makes a professional artist, ya know? The ability to have faith and confidence in your own ability yet still apreciate and learn from everyone else.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!

I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
